Depart from historic Gloucester Harbor aboard the PRIVATEER IV, surrounded by working boats, local wildlife, and iconic landmarks like Ten Pound Island, Hammond Castle, and Eastern Point Lighthouse.
Travel offshore 45–60 minutes to the feeding grounds, where you’ll spend approximately 1.5 hours observing whales. Our experienced captains and naturalists ensure you see many whales and multiple species. Thanks to the productivity of Massachusetts waters, 7 Seas has an over 99% sightings record.
On the return trip, your naturalist answers questions and shares deeper insights from years of global whale-watching experience. This is your chance to see wild, endangered whales in their natural habitat—an unforgettable New England adventure.

45–60 minutes each way
Travel to the feeding grounds typically takes 45 minutes to an hour, where the chances of whale sightings greatly increase. During this time, our naturalists and crew will circulate the vessel.
Historic downtown Gloucester
Gloucester, America’s oldest seaport, is rich in maritime history. As we depart the harbor, our naturalists provide a guided tour, highlighting historic landmarks and offering a unique perspective on this iconic port.
Mid-April through Mid-Oct
April through October offers some of the most pleasant weather in Massachusetts, and it’s also the best time to observe large whale species offshore. These migratory animals travel south in the winter, with humpback whales journeying as far as the Caribbean to breed and give birth.
